BFA Quarterly Meeting: Greenhouse Gas Reduction Requirements: What Bio/Pharma Facilities Managers Need to Know, and WHY
Join us for a networking reception and round table discussion of California Assembly Bill 32, otherwise known as the “Global Warming Solutions Act.” California A.B. 32 requires the state to reduce Greenhouse Gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
These types of compliance regulations require substantial advanced planning and can have significant budgetary implications. NOW is the time to make your organization aware of what’s upcoming and thinking about how best to integrate future construction/renovations projects.
Some of the key points being proposed that may affect bio/pharma facilities include:
- Requirement that 50% of electrical usage to be produced on site
- Required increase of onsite energy options
- Reduce potable water usage by 20%
- Modify parking requirements at commercial sites.
- Ban, or limit, the use of leaf blowers
- Implement a variety of new requirements for new construction
Senior Director of Facilities Services at Theravance, Dan Hipple, will moderate this discussion using South San Francisco’s approach to achieving the states mandated goals by 2020 as talking points.
