CLSA Applauds Gov. Brown on Budget that Invests $10 Million in Precision Medicine Research

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO & SAN DIEGO, Calif., Jan. 8, 2016 – The California Life Sciences Association (CLSA) today issued the following statement from CLSA President & CEO Sara Radcliffe applauding Gov. Jerry Brown’s 2016 – 2017 budget proposal that includes $10 million for precision medicine research. CLSA is the leading voice to drive innovation for California’s life sciences sector, serving over 750 life sciences organizations across California.

“California Life Sciences Association (CLSA) applauds Governor Jerry Brown and his Administration for their unwavering support of life sciences innovation, as demonstrated again in this year’s budget which calls for a $10 million investment in precision medicine research. California is the birthplace of biotechnology and today the state’s life sciences sector employs over 281,000 people working to develop innovative new medicines, technologies and therapies needed to treat and cure patients.

“We look forward to working with the Governor to best invest these research dollars to better understand and combat disease in the 21st century. Many CLSA member companies, universities and research institutes are already working in the precision medicine space and we applaud Governor Brown for his thoughtful and visionary support to advance this important research here in California.”
