CLSA Membership Categories

Sustaining Membership

CLSA’s Sustaining Membership is our top-tier member category and is only available to companies, organizations and institutions with an executive serving on the CLSA Board of Directors (service as a CLSA Director is subject to the requirements of CLSA’s bylaws, CLSA Nominating Committee approval, and election by the CLSA Board). CLSA Board-level organizations commit to providing thought leadership, industry expertise and financial support to CLSA for a (3) year minimum. The primary motivation of our Sustaining Members is to ensure the vitality of the organization and its ability to effectively impact the issues facing California’s life sciences community.

Primary Benefits of the Sustaining Membership package include:
  • Annual CLSA membership and seat on the board of directors (if nominated and elected)
  • Invitation to participate on select board level committees as space and composition requirements allow.

Premium Membership

CLSA’s Premium Membership category offers companies, organizations and institutions with life science interests in California this combined package of annual membership plus advanced event sponsorships. Designing your membership experience from the outset allows your company to gain meaningful access, target strategic event involvement and lock in the visibility opportunities that mirror your membership objectives. Eligibility to this Premium Membership category includes any *qualified member company that commits to a combined annual spend equal to or greater than $15,000 in event program sponsorship plus membership dues.

Gold Standard Membership

CLSA’s Gold Standard Membership category offers companies, organizations and institutions with life sciences interest in California access to CLSA’s powerfully diverse 750+ membership portfolio to raise your profile, develop your pipeline, increase your customer base, and stay abreast of industry trends through our educational programs. Leverage CLSA’s considerable statewide convening power to address and influence the issues impacting your business. Eligibility to the gold membership includes any *qualified member company interested in joining California’s premier life sciences community.

Fellows Membership

CLSA’s Fellows Membership category offers companies, organizations and institutions with life science interests in California with this tailored-made membership that provides a boot camp-like experience for emerging technology and fast growing companies. As you design and execute your product development efforts, craft your capital investment pitch or go to market strategy, leveraging CLSA’s well-greased ecosystem allows Fellows to bring to life their products and services. The full range of mentoring, product development, and market capture, business acumen, and successful exit strategies are available to our select Fellows and FAST program members. Eligibility to the Fellows Membership includes any *qualified life science company that is pre-commercial, raised less than $5M and have 12 or fewer employees.

Primary Benefits of the Fellows Membership package include:

  • Access to California Life Sciences Institute’s FAST Program
  • Access to CLSA’s Health Benefits Advantage Trust

*CLSA membership is available only to bona fide organizations that support the growth and development of the life sciences, and to organizations with public policy positions and business practices that are generally consistent with CLSA’s mission, reputation, and policies and principles in support of innovation, including intellectual property, as determined by the CLSA Board. CLSA reserves the right to review applications for membership to confirm that the applicant meets these criteria for membership. CLSA may, in its sole discretion, reject an application for membership or elect not to renew a membership.

Mergers and Acquisitions Policy

When two member organizations merge, dues will be the larger dues plus 75% of the smaller dues in the first year, 50% in the second year, and 25% in the third year.  Standard dues will apply in the fourth year.
