Ann Mead is Director of Operations, with direct responsibility for HR, facilities, banking, database management and contracts, and oversight for accounting and finance. Prior to joining BayBio, Ann was the Senior Director of Administration at Medivation, Inc., where she developed the administrative infrastructure to grow the company from 30 to 110 employees, introducing full HR services and managing 3 office expansions and the lease negotiation for a 64,000 office facility. Earlier, she provided operational management consulting to CoMentis, Inc., Corra Life Sciences and other Bay Area biotech startup companies. Prior to her work in biotech, Ann was a Vice President at Bank of America in the Capital Markets area. She managed high-volume trading contract teams in London and San Francisco and was responsible for a $4 billion international loan portfolio. She also served as a key leader in a $1.5 billion debt restructuring for the Republic of Costa Rica. Ann has served on a number of non-profit boards and working committees, including BayBio NEST, Women Leaders in Healthcare and Technology, New Langton Arts and SFMOMA’s contemporary arts auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoys running, cycling and swimming. Ann received an MS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University and a BA in Comparative Literature and Russian Language from UC Berkeley, where she was a Rhodes scholarship nominee.
