In the United States, a variety of potential audiences, including regulators, competitors, and consumers, may scrutinize medical device advertising and other promotional activities for truthfulness. Potential challenges can be brought in multiple independent forums that apply different processes and standards, even while striving to achieve the same goal of preventing false or misleading advertising.
