New Legislator Spotlight: Congressman Gil Cisneros (D–Yorba Linda)

Jan. 21, 2019

In each issue of our CLSA Bulletin, we will highlight a new member of California’s seven-member “freshman class” in the 116th Congress.

On behalf of our membership and California’s statewide life sciences community – a sector which employs over 311,000 Californians – California Life Sciences Association (CLSA) welcomes Congressman Gil Cisneros (D–Yorba Linda). We look forward to working with Rep. Cisneros and his team to advance policies that improve patient health and bring positive change for California patients and their families.

Rep. Gil Cisneros

U.S. Representative Gil Cisneros served in the United States Navy for ten years, reaching the rank of Lt. Commander. Following his service, he worked as a shipping and production manager for Frito-Lay, before having the good fortune to win the California Lottery. He and his wife used their winnings to start the Gilbert and Jacki Cisneros Foundation, which invests in students and veterans and college access and affordability programs. Representative Cisneros now serves Cailfornia’s 39th District, based in Orange, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties.

Cisneros’ priorities in Congress are to ensure that children and students everywhere have access to quality and affordable education, and to invest in our nation’s infrastructure and transportation system to strengthen our roads, bridges, highways and waterways.
