New Legislator Spotlight: Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-Simi Valley)
May 15, 2019
In each issue of our CLSA Bulletin, we will highlight a new member of California’s seven-member “freshman class” in the 116th Congress.
On behalf of our membership and California’s statewide life sciences community – a sector which employs over 311,000 Californians – California Life Sciences Association (CLSA) welcomes Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-Simi Valley). We look forward to working with Congresswoman Hill and her team to advance policies that improve patient health and bring positive change for California patients and their families.
Representative Katie Hill serves California’s 25th Congressional District, comprising the Antelope, Palmdale, Simi Valley, and Santa Clarita Valleys. The daughter of a registered nurse and police officer, Rep. Hill most recently worked as Executive Director of PATH (People Assisting The Homeless), the largest homeless services organization in California. Under her leadership, in just four years PATH helped more than 7,000 chronically homeless individuals, veterans, and families make it off the streets into permanent housing. Rep. Hill was elected by her colleagues to be the Freshman Co-Representative to Democratic Leadership in the 116th Congress and was the first Member-elect to present the Democratic Weekly Address. Rep. Hill and her husband reside on a farm in Agua Dulce, California where they foster rescue animals.
