Relay for Life of North Peninsula, American Cancer Society
10:00am - 9:00am
The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based, voluntary health organization dedicated to saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer.
Together with our millions of supporters, the Society is helping to save more lives from cancer. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the Society has many regional locations and works hard to engage our local communities, including the Bay Area Peninsula, in this fight, delivering lifesaving programs and services and raising money at the local level. Developing these communities is a priority for us, and we’re committed to attacking cancer from every angle. Local involvement comes in many forms, including Relay For Life.
Relay For Life is a family-oriented event. Former and current cancer patients, their families, and the public are invited to take part in this exciting team event. In 2017 our event raised over $50,000 with the help of generous supporters from our community and individual participants. With these funds, the American Cancer Society could provide: • 300 rides to and from treatment for cancer patients • Over 100 nights at a Hope Lodge for cancer patients and their caregiver who are travelling away from home for treatment • Approx. $30,000 designated for cancer research.
Given the prominence of life science companies in the Bay Area North Peninsula, we hope you’ll help us advertise our Relay For Life North Peninsula event, to be held on September 22nd and 23rd at Central Park in Millbrae, CA. It would be especially meaningful to our participants to see local scientists and life science workers participate in this event. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for further information.
