Zak Megeed, Ph.D.

Zak represents life science and technology clients in all aspects of intellectual property strategy and procurement. His practice focuses on strategic counseling related to patent procurement, portfolio development and management, freedom-to-operate, due diligence and licensing. He has extensive experience in antibody therapeutics, immunology, diagnostics, drug delivery, regenerative medicine and next-generation sequencing methods. Before joining Squire Sanders, Zak practiced law at two international law firms. Zak also served as the head of intellectual property for a yeast-based therapeutic antibody discovery company, where he developed the company’s core intellectual property assets. These assets have been leveraged into over 20 partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Prior to practicing law, he was an Instructor in Surgery and Bioengineering at Harvard Medical School. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, a J.D. from Boston University, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, where he was awarded a Ruth L. Kirschstein Individual National Research Service Award by the National Institutes of Health.
